Both King’s Road locations celebrate Oktoberfest on the traditional dates of the annual festival in Munich, Germany, starting on the third Saturday of September and ending on the first Sunday in October. This year the dates are September 17 thru October 2.
On the first Saturday we tap and release our Oktoberfest beer, a Marzen amber lager – a beer rich in malt with a balance of clean, hop bitterness. Originating in Germany, this style was traditionally brewed in the spring (“Marzen” meaning “March”) and aged, or lagered, throughout the summer.
This year for Oktoberfest, King’s Road has partnered with US Steinholding to host several competitions of this traditional Bavarian contest of strength in which competitors hold a full one-liter beer stein out in front of their bodies with a straight arm for as long as possible.
